Gresham senior Nate Gilkey named 2023/24 MHC defensive player of the year

- Raiders senior Michael Gray earned a spot on all-league honorable mention.
Local boys hoopers were honored with individual awards and accolades during the 2023/24 Mt. Hood Conference All-League honors.

Gresham senior center Nate Gilkey was named the defensive player of the year, highlighting his talents turning back opposing drives into the paint and penchant for thunderous, momentum-swinging blocks.
“Nate (is) physical, everyone sleeps on him,” said Gresham Coach Corey Lockhart. “He is 6-foot-10, has that 7-foot wingspan, and knows how to use it.”
“He is going to make some college very happy next season,” Lockhart added.

The other two top boys awards went to Central Catholic — senior Marley Zeller was player of the year, and David Blue was coach of the year.
