An underdog Sandy baseball didn’t make it easy in the second round of state, forcing an extra inning.

The No. 13 Pioneers almost shocked No. 4 Jesuit Wednesday, May 22. They had a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, but the Crusaders walked in a run to send it to another frame.

That is when Jesuit junior Treynor Cleeland hit a three-run walk-off homer to win it. Jesuit (20-9) beat Sandy (21-8) 9-6.

The Crusaders also got a home run from senior Preston Miller; while junior Cooper Hibbs went yard for the Pioneers.
