No. 11 Barlow, No. 16 Sandy volleyball to host first round playoff game

Gresham volleyball earned the final spot in the 2024 playoffs. 

Three local 6A volleyball teams are headed to the 2024 OSAA State Championships, which begin this week.

Barlow and Sandy both earned a home game, while Gresham will travel to take on the top team in the state. Here is the first round matchups:

  • No. 11 Barlow (16-5) vs. No. 22 Beaverton (13-11) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30
  • No. 16 Sandy (16-9) vs. No. 17 South Eugene (14-8) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30
  • No. 32 Gresham (12-13) at No. 1 Jesuit (24-2) at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30

Any of the teams that win the opener will play in Round 2 on Saturday, Nov. 2 (highest seed continues to host). The final rounds will be Nov. 8-9 at Forest Grove High School.

The Pioneers enter the tournament on a hot streak — they closed the regular season with a 4-1 record to secure their spot. The Bruins similarly closed out the season on a heater, with 7-1 record marred only by a loss to fellow Mt. Hood Conference rep No. 4 Nelson. Gresham snuck into the final slot on the strength of its schedule and some strong early season victories.
