It was the “NeverEnding” inning — much to the delight of the Sandy softball faithful.

The Pioneers walked all over visiting Grant in the second frame, thanks to some patient bats, booming triples, and, well, those aforementioned walks. The Generals walked seven (12 in two innings), leading to a bit of frustration for the Sandy hitters as there just weren’t many enticing pitches to swing at.
But despite that some fireworks were still provided during that back-breaking inning. Senior Dakota Mannor opened with a triple, and then in her next at-bat slammed home a pair of runners (junior Keira Moffit and freshman Makayla Howze) with a well-placed single. Senior Taylor Donahue followed that up with a double, bringing home sophomore Kylee Swanson. Then sophomore Hailey Watts smashed a triple to score another pair of runners (Mannor and Donahue).
That long inning led to a short contest. Sandy picked up its first win of the season with a 15-1 victory over Grant on a soggy Thursday afternoon, March 20, in just three innings of play (the mercy rule called it after the top of the 3rd).
