The sun and the Pioneers’ track team were out in full force on May 6, making for a great day for a meet.

For the team’s senior night, the new Sandy Track and Field Booster Club came out to hype up the crowd and the athletes with free team swag, including posters, hats, shirts and meet programs.

The Pioneers hosted David Douglas for the dual meet on their home turf.

Sandy’s seniors made a great showing, with both boys and girls teams winning their team competitions.

As part of the hype, the booster club also facilitated some tasty treats to be available during the meet — Kona Ice, Tom’s Coffee Truck and Kristy’s Down Home Cookin’ food truck from Estacada.

“Athletes and parents have been really kind and, more than anything, really grateful that the booster club is helping these athletes feel supported,” said booster club president Lindy Hanley.

“Coach Aguilera has created such a team atmosphere that it’s easy to build on and really highlight this team’s accomplishments in creative ways,” she added. “None of this would be possible without the generosity of the donors and families who support Sandy Track and Field.”

The club started its efforts a bit late in the season, but so far has fundraised more than $100K in 2025.

They are aiming to be “bigger and better” for next season.

That said, the club still welcomes interested sponsors, and are grateful for those who’ve already pledged their support and their dollars.
