Nebesky food cart offers up ‘heavenly’ homemade breakfast in Boring

After years in business management and cooking for others, Sandy High grad Anita Wardell decided to marry the two and opened Nebesky, the latest food cart in Boring.

About three months ago, Wardell set up shop selling homecooked breakfast items at 28425 S.E. Highway 212, Boring. Wardell dubbed the business Nebesky, which is Czech for “Heavenly,” to honor her grandmother and mother. Her grandmother was Czech, and died before Wardell was born, but Wardell was always told she reminded her family of her.

“I cook like her, I look like her,” Wardell said. “I’ve been told that my whole life. And I’ve always cooked and entertained. I have always loved to feed people.”

Her eatery endeavor began in her home kitchen during the pandemic; she’d sell chorizo burritos to her budding following of foodies.

Wardell’s specialty is breakfast food, including popular crowd pleasers like a chorizo burrito, biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches. Ironically, Wardell is not a morning person, but she said: “(Breakfast food) just made sense for my life.”

“I want to be home to make dinner,” she explained. “It all came together.”

With more and more regulars coming to Nebesky every day, Wardell hopes to soon be able to quit her other job and focus on her business and giving back. Over the years, Wardell has owned and operated a construction company and a cleaning company, and worked with groups that empower women in business through networking.

She said she’d like to get to a place with her business that she could begin that kind of female empowerment work again.

“Money is not everything, but money can be freedom,” Wardell said. “Business is a passion and a hobby of mine. It’s about the doors it opens. I’d love to be able (to afford) to give back and spend more time with my kids.”

Nebesky is open from 6-11 a.m. Monday through Friday. Starting March 1, Wardell plans to stay open until 1 p.m.
