While traffic was moving through Sandy with relative ease Tuesday morning, the icy conditions made travel dangerous on Highway 26. The highway between Gresham and Sandy was covered by packed snow and ice, and there were numerous spinouts and crashes. One full-sized pickup was off the road and laying on its side just east of Haley Road. Skid marks showed signs of another vehicle sliding off the road, through the ditch and into a group of trees, also in the vicinity of Haley Road.
Several other vehicles were off the road, and appeared to be abandoned. Traffic during the morning commute was moving on the highway between 25-35 mph.
The Oregon Trail School District canceled classes Tuesday.
